Invoice and annual statement
You pay the healthcare contribution for your family members directly to the CAK. You receive an invoice for this, and an annual statement at the end of the year. This page tells you all about invoices and annual statements.
Good to know
- We send the invoice for the coming year in December.
- You will receive the annual statement for the previous year in February or March.
- You only pay for family members aged 18 and over.
- You will not receive an invoice or annual statement if all your family members are aged under 18.
The invoice
You will receive the first invoice when your family members have been registered with the CAK. This bill covers the remaining part of the year. In December of each year, you will receive the invoice for the coming year.
Monthly amounts
The invoice states how much you can transfer to us each month. The invoice does not come with an obligation to pay. This means that you do not have to pay. You may wait for the annual statement to arrive. The annual statement must be paid as a lump sum, within 6 weeks of receipt.
Direct debit
The invoice includes a direct debit form. By signing this form, you authorise us to debit an amount from your account each month. This way, you do not have to worry about anything and you will always pay on time.
Tip
You do not pay anything for family members aged under 18. If a family member turns 18 during the year, you will automatically receive an adjusted invoice from us.
Example 1: You have co-insured one family member. This family member turns 18 on 3 April. In May, you will receive an invoice from us for the first time, covering the period from 3 April to 31 December.
Example 2: You have co-insured two family members, aged 20 and 17. The youngest turns 18 on 2 June. You will receive an adjusted invoice in July, which means that from 2 June onwards, you will need to pay for two family members instead of one.
The annual statement
You will receive the annual statement for the previous year in February or March (in any case, before 1 April).
Overview
The annual statement shows what you should have paid for your family members in a calendar year. This depends on the number of family members, the number of months they were insured, and the country-of-residence factor.
Final settlement
It also states what you have already paid based on the invoice. Below the line, you can see whether you have paid the exact amount due, whether you are due money back, or whether you still need to pay us an amount.
Payment
Do you still have to pay an amount? In that case, the amount due must be in our account within 6 weeks. Alternatively, you can agree on a payment arrangement with us.
Tip
View or download your invoice or annual statement? This can be done in My CAK (Dutch only). You will need a DigiD for this.
