How do I pay the premium for the health insurance the CAK took out for me?
You pay the premium to us for 12 months, through your income or to the Centraal Justitieel Incassobureau (CJIB). How you pay this premium depends on your situation. Unfortunately, it is not possible to pay your premium to us in any other way. You pay via your income or to the CJIB.
I have a salary, a benefit or a pension
We will then deduct the premium from your income every month. We will send a letter about this to your employer, benefits agency or pension fund.
I am self-employed or have no income
We then ask the Centraal Justitieel Incassobureau (CJIB) to send you a payment request every month. You then pay your healthcare premium to the CJIB yourself. Do you receive healthcare benefit? Then the Belastingdienst will transfer your healthcare benefit to the CJIB from now on. You will then receive a payment request every month for the remaining amount.
How long do I pay the premium to the CAK?
You pay the premium to us for 12 months. You then pay the premium to your health insurer. You will receive a message about this from us and from your health insurer.
How much is the premium?
The premium you pay is € 165.58 per month (€ 172.33 in 2025). The amount of this premium is stated in the law. You do not pay the premium to the health insurer, but to us.
Why is my healthcare benefit paid to the CJIB?
The healthcare benefit is intended to help you pay your healthcare premium. Because you pay your healthcare premium to us, the CJIB withholds your healthcare allowance. You will receive a payment request from the CJIB for the remaining amount. If you pay through your income, you will receive your healthcare allowance yourself.
Can I switch to another health insurer?
You are insured for 12 months with the health insurer with which we have registered you. After those 12 months, you cannot immediately take out health insurance with another health insurer. This is only possible from January 1st of the following year.
