When do I stop paying to the CAK and what happens then?
If we take out health insurance on your behalf, you will pay your premium to us for 12 months. This premium is € 165.58 per month (€ 172,33 in 2025). After these 12 months you will receive a message from your health insurer. From that moment on, you pay your health insurance premium yourself. We will send you a final statement after that.
Do we decuct your premium from your income?
Then you pay your premium to us for 12 months through your income. After these 12 months, we will send a letter to your employer or benefits agency, to stop deducting your premium.
Do you pay the premium to the CJIB?
If we can't deduct the premium from your income, you pay the premium yourself to the Centraal Justitieel Incassobureau (CJIB). The CJIB will send you a payment request every month to pay the premium. After 12 months this stops.
When will I receive the final statement?
You will receive the final statement 8 weeks after the premium has been stopped. The final statement is an overview of the total premium that you had to pay for 12 months. This shows how much you have paid and what you may still have to pay. Has your employer or benefits agency withheld too much premium? Then you will get that money back. We usually transfer this back to your employer or benefits agency.
I paid too much or too little
Did you pay more than the total amount? You will then receive the money back. We will pay you back if the amount is €5 or more.
If you have to pay extra, you will receive a payment request from the Centraal Justitieel Incassobureau (CJIB). You can pay off the outstanding amount in installments. Is the final bill less than €50? Then you do not have to pay this.
Do I still have to pay the last payment request from the CJIB?
You must pay all payment requests that you receive from the CJIB. Pay on time to avoid extra costs. Even if we have already sent you a letter stating that we are stopping the premium.
I paid too much. When will I get the money back?
Before we can prepare a final statement, we must first await all payments. We receive this from employers, benefit agencies, or the CJIB. That is why it takes approximately 8 weeks before we send you the final statement. This states whether you get money back or whether you still have to pay.
When does the CAK close my file?
Once you have paid the final statement, we will close your file. You will then only have to deal with your health insurer for your health insurance.
I really can't pay the final statement
Sometimes the bailiff informs us that you really cannot pay your final statement at that time. We will then stop the collection process.
How much premium do I pay to the health insurer?
The premium that you will pay to your health insurer yourself is lower than the administrative premium. Your health insurer will send you a letter about the amount of your new premium.
